And the government shall be

upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

May all readers of this blog experience the goodness of God this Christmas.

(And my apologies to anyone who believes that the above greeting constitutes bullying.)

And a very merry Christmas to you too.

We may share scepticism about our earthly governments, with their rulers who lord it over us and call themselves benefactors (how appropriate to the social-democratic state!), but the divine son who was born with the government upon his shoulders came to be servant of all.

Great point - and one that I never thought of!

Hope you got a selection box of marmalades this morning.

I think I shall be doing more bullying next year. Things are bad and so time is running out.

Thank you, Stewart. My family were indeed good to me.

(And I may well have been the only person in the country who made myself a sandwich for lunch!)

I suppose the most appropriate present for you would be a box of chocolates called "Real Street" made with cocoa grown justly and fairly - as opposed to that most dubious of products made by N*****, but I don't suppose such boxes of chocolates are available in the shops yet, so I cannot hope that you got one.

One of my part-time employees gave me a tin of Quality Street made by the N-word. He's a nice lad - it's a pity I have to sack him!

Best wishes, Mr B.
